October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to honor survivors, support those living with breast cancer, remember loved ones, and recognize caregivers who give their time, energy, and love.
At Dieujuste Financial, we believe caring for families begins with caring for people. This month, we encourage our community to make room for conversations about health, offer practical support, and remind those affected by breast cancer that they do not have to face their journey alone.
Make time for a conversation about your health
Talk with your healthcare professional about your personal risk, family history, and which screening tests are right for you and when to have them. Your family health history can help your provider decide what screening and other care you may need. Screening can help find breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat.
You can begin the conversation with a few questions:
How does my personal or family history affect my risk?
Which screening tests do you recommend for me, and how often?
What should I understand about the benefits and risks of screening?

Turn compassion into practical support
Sometimes, the most meaningful support is a simple, specific offer. Instead of saying, “Let me know if you need anything,” consider asking:
“May I bring you dinner on Thursday?”
“Would a ride to your next appointment be helpful?”
“Can I pick up groceries for you this week?”
A thoughtful check-in, help with an errand, or a quiet moment of listening can show someone they are cared for. Ask what would help, respect their preferences, and give them space to share as much or as little as they choose.
Remember caregivers and loved ones
Caregivers deserve care, too. Check in on the person arranging appointments, preparing meals, or providing daily support. Offer help with a household task or time to rest.
For those remembering someone who died from breast cancer, October may bring difficult emotions. Reach out gently, acknowledge their loved one, and allow room for both memories and grief. There is no single way someone should feel during an awareness month.
Keep family support at the center
Health challenges can bring questions about household responsibilities, important documents, and family finances. When someone feels ready, a supportive conversation can help them identify questions and decide whom to ask for guidance. Let their needs and comfort set the pace.
At Dieujuste Financial, our commitment is to listen and help families have thoughtful conversations about their future.
This October, choose one caring action: speak with your healthcare professional, check in on someone affected by breast cancer, or offer a meal or a ride. Small acts of care can mean a great deal.
